UP government announced a new scheme in the 2019-20 budget Kanya Sumangala Yojana to raise the health and education standards of girls. Kanya Sumangala Yojna will be implemented by the state women and child welfare department.
The aim of this scheme to improve the level of the health and education in women and bringing a positive change in the mindset towards them. UP Kanya Sumangala Scheme is being started from the next financial year with a view to raise health and educational standard of girls, brighten their future, bring in a positive change in the thinking towards women and instil a sense of respect towards them.

Uttar Pradesh Kanya Sumangla Yojana, pre-determined amount would be deposited at the regular interval in the name of girl child to aid her education and marriage. This amount would be transferred directly into the bank account of the girls through Direct Benefits Transfer mode.
Government of Uttar Pradesh has allocated Rs.1200 crore for the successful implementation of Kanya Sumanala Yojana. The Uttar Pradesh Kanya Sumangla scheme is going to be implemented from April 2019 with a view to raise health and education standard of girls.
Uttar Pradesh CM Mr. Yogi Adityanath stated that a pre-determined amount will be deposited in the bank account of girl child at the following duration
- 1st Instalment at the time birth of girl child
- 2nd Instalment at the time of vaccination
- 3rd Instalment at the time of admission of girl in class I
- 4th Instalment when the girl reaches class VI
- 5th Instalment when a girl reaches class IX
- 6th Instalment at the time when the girl starts graduation
- 7th Instalment at the time of girl’s wedding
Uttar Pradesh State Government will ensure that the girls would get handsome amount at the time of their graduates or time of get married. This Uttar Pradesh Kanya Sumangla scheme will work in collaboration with the central government scheme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”
An amount of the Rs. 1,200 crore proposed in the budget for this purpose,”The finance Minister Said. Apart from this, Rs.4,004 crore has been proposed for a nutrition programme. A provision of Rs 1,410 crore has been made in the budget for the sustenance of destitute windows and eduction of their children.
